My name is Michaela and I'm a second year teacher in Central Falls, Rhode Island. I teach 8th grade math to a group of 135 students, who I have been lucky enough to teach for two years now! Before teaching on the East coast, I fully believed the phrase "West coast, best coast". I grew up near Portland, Oregon where the evergreen trees and stunning views from Mt. Hood and the Columbia River Gorge inspired me to study the environment in college. I completed my degree in Enviromental Studies in sunny Los Angeles at the University of Southern California. At the same time, I continued with my studies of my all-time favorite subject: math. After graduating in 2018 with a BS in Applied Mathematics and a BA in Environmental Studies, I joined Teach for America and traveled across the country on my new adventure. Since moving to Providence, I've learned the meaning of the word "bubbler", survived two New England winters, and met the most amazing kids! I can't wait to see all the fun I have next year in my third year of teaching!
